Streetwear and Style Trends From London Fashion Week

The style at London Fashion Week tends to lean more punk than it does in other cities. For that, thanks are in part owed to Vivienne Westwood, the late British designer whose decades of bucking convention on the runway advanced a trend of individualism in the streets.

Seeing how that individualistic spirit influences the way people dress is the best part of surveying the crowds outside the London shows. But even among nonconformists, patterns can emerge. Those noticed during Fashion Week included shorter hemlines that bared many a leg, tailoring made louder by prints and generously sized bags that suggested an end to — or at least a retreat from — the era of teeny-tiny accessories.
